Accessibility statement
CompareSupports is committed to making the site usable by everyone, including NDIS participants who rely on assistive technology.
Our commitment
We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across all pages. The NDIS audience includes many people who rely on screen readers, keyboard navigation, and other assistive technology — accessibility is a core requirement, not an afterthought.
Current measures
- Skip link: A "Skip to main content" link is the first element on every page, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to bypass navigation.
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements (buttons, links, filters, modals) are reachable and operable by keyboard alone.
- Focus management: Modal dialogs (quiz, mobile filter drawer) trap focus while open and restore focus on close.
- Visible focus indicators: A 3 px sage-green outline appears on all focused elements for keyboard users. Mouse users are unaffected.
- ARIA landmarks: All pages use semantic HTML and ARIA roles (
role="dialog",aria-modal,aria-label,aria-current="page") to aid screen reader navigation. - Decorative images: SVG icons and decorative elements use
aria-hidden="true"so screen readers skip them. - Colour contrast: All text meets WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Reduced motion: All CSS transitions and animations are suppressed when the OS
prefers-reduced-motionsetting is active. - Breadcrumbs: Breadcrumb navigation includes
aria-current="page"on the current page andaria-hidden="true"on separators.
Known limitations
- Provider profile pages are generated from database records and may occasionally contain data quality issues in text content. We review these on an ongoing basis.
- Third-party content (Google Maps embeds, if added in future) may have accessibility limitations outside our control.
